Crisis Averted is a boutique finishing studio specializing in stand-up comedy and live performance specials and is behind many of the most respected productions being released today.
Based in New York, the studio focuses on the final stage of the filmmaking process: color grading, visual refinement, and finishing work that ensures a performance translates cleanly to screen.
The studio is led by director and photographer Peter Buckingham, whose work spans decades in New York’s commercial production industry. That background informs a finishing approach guided by technical precision and a refined sense of visual quality, with attention to the subtle details that elevate a production.
Crisis Averted specializes in finishing processes and VFX techniques specific to live performance, including audience patching, camera and signage deletes, and other visual refinements that ensure the final image remains clean and distraction-free.
Crisis Averted also works with productions early in the process through a Finishing Partnership, advising on technical and visual considerations before a special is filmed.
Recent work includes comedy specials and productions featuring Ali Siddiq, Mark Normand, Nate Bargatze, Ari Shaffir, Tom Segura, and Jordan Jensen, among others.
The studio works with producers and production companies preparing projects for distribution across major platforms including Netflix, HBO, Hulu, and Amazon.
